The miners' association Schneeberger Knappenverein´ of Passeier was founded in 1984 by ex-miners Aldo Sartori, Johann Prünster, Anton Auer and Alois Brunner. The chairman was Johann Prünster, from St. Martin. The association is open to all miners and their direct descendents to the third degree. At the present time, under the chairmanship of Felix Lanthaler of Moos, the 99 members, in their old miners' uniforms, communicate to the world their last message of olden times in the mining industry in the form of processions and funeral cortèges. The association annually celebrates its patron saint, St. Barbara, on the Sunday nearest to her feast-day, December 4, at Moos.
