One example of the centuries-long tradition of mining at Ridnaun is the costume of the band. Since the Second World War, the members of the Ridnaun Miners' Band have worn the Schneeberg miners' uniform.
The men of the church choir also have the same costume. Every year, on the second Sunday in July, the two associations organize a solumn mass at St. Barbara's chapel, near the Maiern enrichment plant, followed by a concert.
The feast-day of St. Barbara, December 4, is also celebrated solemnly by those ex-miners who are still living, at present numbering about 60. Since most of them are now very old, unfortunately every year one or more of them is accompanied to the cemetery. Miners in uniform carry their companion's coffin to his last resting-place, together with a large miners' flag and a wreath.
